Kerma AgriHub is a farmer-run training and demonstration hub in Kerma, Njoro. Come and learn how tilapia feed your crops, buy fresh produce from our greenhouse, and join a growing network of circular farmers in Nakuru.
Fish waste becomes plant food, and plants clean the water for the fish. Our pumice beds use far less water than open-field farming and need no chemical fertiliser.
Nile tilapia in the raised tank release ammonia through their gills and waste.
Friendly bacteria living on the pumice turn ammonia into nitrate, which is safe for fish and feeds plants.
Tomatoes, onions, Swiss chard and African leafy vegetables take up the nitrate through drip lines.
The cleaned water flows back to the fish. We only top up what evaporates.
Grown without soil or chemical pesticides. Pick what you want, then send the order on WhatsApp. We confirm today's price and availability, and you pay by M-Pesa or cash when you collect.

Kerma AgriHub is a Self-Help Group in Kerma, Njoro, Nakuru County. We turned our own hydroponic and aquaponic farm into a place where farmers and students learn by doing.
Many farmers around Njoro still rely on water-hungry soil farming because they have never seen an alternative in action. Hydroponics and aquaponics are often thought to be too complex or only for large commercial farms.
At Kerma, farmers walk through a working greenhouse, test the water, feed the fish and transplant seedlings themselves. Then we follow them home and help them build a low-cost unit from local materials.
One-day sessions and a five-day course covering system design, water quality, tilapia, crops, pests and business.
A raised tilapia tank feeding drip-irrigated pumice beds and soil beds, open for visits by appointment.
Follow-up visits to help trained farmers and schools build and run their own starter units.

30 small-scale farmers (16 women and 14 men) and two secondary schools, Kilimo and Kerma, joined the programme. The greenhouse was repaired and re-covered.
Three hands-on sessions for the farmer cohort and two sessions for 23 students at Kilimo Secondary School.
Fish stock grew from 100 to 500 tilapia and a new lined fish pond was built.
Five farmers, two of them women, and Kilimo Secondary School set up their own units from farm timber and local polythene, for about KES 30,000 each. The Kilimo living lab's tanks will hold 500 tilapia.
